Our heritage is rooted in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. But in our schools, students and families of all denominations find a spiritual home. Our curriculum includes chapel time and faith-based instruction that helps students grow in their spirituality and build a personal relationship with Christ. Many of our non-Lutheran families find that this kind of instruction is a great complement to their own personal beliefs!
Many families find that a Lutheran education is more affordable than they initially expect. Depending on your situation, your student may qualify for scholarships, tuition assistance, or Indiana school-choice grants. In fact, 98% of Concordia Lutheran High School students receive some kind of financial aid. Don’t rule anything out until you call! Your local Lutheran school can give you more information about financial aid and walk you through the application process.
Each of the 19 schools that make up The Lutheran Schools has its own unique environment and student body. But in general, there’s a school to fit any family—from smaller, rural schools to larger, more diverse schools in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne. We encourage you to contact your preferred school for more information!
In every one of our Lutheran schools, the curriculum is designed to meet or exceed Indiana state standards, and incorporate textbooks adopted and accepted by the state. Our curriculum includes faith instruction, physical education, computer technology, art, foreign languages, and vocal and instrumental music. Students in our Lutheran schools consistently score above the state average in standardized testing. And when if they switch to public schooling, they are often accepted into honors and Advanced Placement classes.
A Lutheran education leaves plenty of room for students to pursue their passions! In the Lutheran School Athletic Association, students from many of our local schools can participate in volleyball, soccer, basketball, wrestling, cross country, track, football, and cheerleading. The smaller size of our schools also opens up team rosters for a greater percentage of students and gives them an opportunity to participate in several different extracurricular activities.
There’s so many good things to say about a Lutheran education. But the only real way to discover the Lutheran difference is to see it firsthand! We encourage all families to visit the school(s) of their choice to take a tour and get to know the culture. Our schools are united by their shared heritage and faith—but each has its own unique culture and environment. No matter what you’re looking for in an academic home, there’s a good chance you’ll find a Lutheran school that fits!
If your family doesn’t meet any of these requirements, you may still be eligible for other forms of tuition assistance, including SGO (Scholarship Granting Organization) scholarships. Our Lutheran schools are blessed with private donations from individuals and businesses to provide scholarships to financially qualifying students. (See chart above for income guidelines.) These privately donated funds create the opportunity for scholarships varying in value from $500 up to the cost of tuition. The scholarships are issued from the Lutheran Scholarship Granting Organization of Indiana. In addition to providing financial assistance to current tuition, these scholarships can create a track to a future Indiana School Choice Scholarship. Contact your preferred Lutheran school to discuss your eligibility and options.
The reality of politics and public opinion in Indiana almost guarantees that this expansion of School Choice will stay in place for at least a decade. Any future challenges to this legislation will be met by a robust team of Indiana legislators, lobbyists and supporters who are poised to defend School Choice and optimistic about even more opportunities in the future.
A School Choice Scholarship can be applied to the tuition at any participating non-public school in Indiana. It cannot be applied to additional costs such as book fees, extracurricular fees, parking fees, etc.
The only requirements are the income levels listed above and if the non-public school chooses to participate in the School Choice program. If your family doesn’t meet the income requirement, or if your preferred school does not participate, you may still be eligible for other forms of tuition assistance, including SGO (Scholarship Granting Organization) scholarships. Contact your preferred Lutheran school to discuss your eligibility and options.
A School Choice Scholarship can ONLY be applied to tuition. After your child has enrolled in the participating non-public school of your choice and applied for a School Choice Scholarship, the scholarship funds are sent directly to the school by the state of Indiana. The scholarship is not a voucher, so there is no funding left over to use. In some cases—including at most of the region’s Lutheran schools—the maximum amount available is greater than the total tuition costs. In those cases, the scholarship simply covers the entire cost of tuition for qualifying students.
The amount that a School Choice Scholarship is worth has dramatically increased. Previously, multiple tiers for School Choice Scholarships existed and a student may have only qualified for a partial School Choice Scholarship. Now, every qualifying student is eligible for the full amount based upon the school district of your residence. (Refer to the chart above.) In some cases—including at most of the region’s Lutheran schools—the maximum amount available is greater than the total tuition costs. In those cases, the scholarship simply covers the entire cost of tuition for qualifying students.
With 19 schools in our region, a Lutheran education is always close to home—and has an environment that feels like home.
