It started with an idea by a TLSP board member, Brian Bean.

An idea for a way to publicly thank our 370 teachers, staff, and administrators that have been our warriors on the frontlines of education at our 19 Lutheran schools in Northeast Indiana during COVID.

An idea that grew beyond our expectations. Thanks to a wide variety of donors from many areas, Lutheran and non-Lutheran, $49,418 was raised from 97 donors, as well as gift cards from dozens of restaurants. The last week of February TLSP staff delivered the gift bags with checks of $138.11, restaurant gift cards, coupons, chocolates, and other assorted fun items and students then shared in the joy of giving the bags to their teachers like St. Peter’s Lutheran School in Fort Wayne (above & at right).

It wasn’t long before we started receiving thank you notes from the recipients, like the one below from staff at St. Paul’s Lutheran, downtown Fort Wayne and the one near the end of this note from Redeemer Lutheran, Fort Wayne.

The appreciation gifts would not have been possible without the efforts of Brian and the support of the community like you, so we wanted to share these words of appreciation with you, too.

We’re thankful for the support of parents. We’re thankful for our churches that are dedicated to Lutheran education. And we’re thankful for you, for your support of our warriors we call teachers.

May God continue to bless the efforts of 19 schools, 370 educators, for the benefit of nearly 4,000 students.

P.S. Please view the story by Chris Darby at WANE TV that chronicled the delivery of the baskets at <https://tinyurl.com/ks34py28> and know that you helped make it all possible.
