The following is a contribution from TLSP’s BOD vice chairman, Mark Roemke.
After chasing around with Mark on cold, sloppy February day, I’m more thankful than ever that God has placed Mark in a position of influence for Lutheran schools. Mark’s love for his Lord is so apparent. Mark is quick to talk about how God has blessed him and his family. He’s in the mix in many of the regions’ school fundraising activities and is now eagerly sharing the TLSP story in garnering support for our April 16 event. Mark understands and lives out the joy of knowing Jesus. Thanks Mark!
In 2003 Alan Jackson introduced us to a new song called, “Remember When.” Throughout that song, Jackson takes us through a man’s life from his younger to his older years. It references the love of his life and how life changed throughout those years.
We at The Lutheran Schools Partnership have our share of “remember whens.” Growing up, Christ has been the center of everything that we have experienced. As young children, we remember family gatherings as we sang birthday wishes, listening to Christmas stories and celebrating the joyous event of Easter. What a precious gift that our treasured events surrounding family were celebrated with Christ present!
Some of us were also given another gift-attending a Lutheran school and experiencing the faith building that it brings including coming home to tell mom and dad what we had learned and what Jesus meant to us. This Christian atmosphere is what started us out on our life experience and gave us a base to build on to prepare to face the world.
This leads us to now. TLSP is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a special event on April 16. Many of you reading this might not know that The Lutheran Schools Partnership was started and continues to be funded by The Lutheran Foundation (TLF). We give thanks to God for TLF and for the growth of TLSP and God’s continued guidance in TLSP’s support of our schools. We ask you to pray for us, that God will continue to bless our goals and our support of the schools.
In the song “Remember When”, Jackson ends with these words, “When the children grow up and move away, we won’t be sad, we’ll be glad for all the life we’ve had and we’ll remember when.” Our hope is that in our elder years, we too can look back and see all the blessings we’ve had and give thanks to God for His saving grace and love to each and every one of us.
