At what age is it okay to give a child a cell phone? What are the effects of screen time on children? What is the truth about social media and young people? How can I promote digital safety with my family? Many parents are asking themselves, and their friends, these questions as they navigate through the challenges of parenting in a digital age.
There are amazing benefits, but also great dangers that come along with the Internet. The world is at our fingertips online. Connecting with distant family and friends is made easy. The beauty of God’s creation can be seen in an instant. There is even help for challenging math homework! However, it is true that online predators are rampant, misinformation abounds, and it is easy to become addicted to our devices.
The Lutheran Schools Partnership and Great Kids Make Great Communities invite you to join us on Thursday, February 13 at Concordia Lutheran High School as we discuss “Parenting Children in a Digital Age.” Dr. Michelle Drouin, developmental psychologist, researcher, and professor at Purdue Fort Wayne will share what current research tells us, and share resources to help us create action plans for digital safety with our families.
Please visit our website to learn more about Dr. Drouin, read more about the evening’s topics and to register for this FREE event. Two sessions will be offered, at 6:15pm and 7:15pm. Pizza will be provided, and attendees can sign up to win a Circle Home Plus to help manage the devices in your home. We invite you to invite a friend and join us on Thursday, Feb. 13 for this important discussion.
